From Dan Cabral
Following his win in the team’s Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series entry two weeks ago at Flamboro Speedway, car owner Robert James has tasked Stu Robinson Jr. with piloting James’ Limited Late Model during this Saturday’s Fall Brawl at Jukasa Motor Speedway.
“It means the absolute world to me for Rob (James) to tap me on the shoulder like this and tell me he wants me to run at Jukasa,” says Robinson with pride. “He’s one of the best Car Owners in the game today at this level. There are tons of guys that would love to be in my position”
“Our team has had some awesome runs in the (Lucas Oil) Sportsman Series car and I hope I can carry that momentum over to the Late Model,” continues the Beaverton, ON racer. “My main goal is to bring Rob back a finish that he can be excited about”
The 50-lap event marks the first time that the Limited Late Model division will compete at the newly reconfigured facility, and will provide James’ team with the opportunity to earn their first ever division victory.
“This program that Rob and (son) Connor have built up is real impressive,” notes Robinson. “I know that Connor had some real solid runs before he stepped back to focus on his (NASCAR) Pinty’s Series deal, so there’s already a great foundation to work with”
“I think that Jukasa is going to represent a real challenge for anyone on this entry list,” continues the multi-time OSCAAR Super Late Model Series event winner. “These cars have never raced there – which means no one really knows quite what to expect. It’s going to be a bit of a guessing game to start the afternoon. Whomever can adapt the quickest is going to have the advantage”
And, while Robinson has spent the entirety of his 2018 campaign chasing Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series points, he wouldn’t rule out a season with the perennially talented Limited Late Model division in the near future.
“Right now – I’m up for whatever Rob wants to do,” explains the veteran. “He’s the best car owner a guy could ever ask for. He wanted to chase Lucas Oil points this year – so that’s exactly what we did. But, if he wanted to switch things up and put me in the (Limited) Late Model next season, I’d be all for that”
“I’ll chase wins anywhere,” adds Robinson with a smile. “Rob’s equipment is top notch no matter what division it’s in. So, if I’m lucky enough to be back with his team next year, then I’m sure we’ll be hunting for wins no matter where we are.”
