INNISFIL, Ont. — Continuing to build on their speed each week, Paul Maltese picked up another pair of top-10’s on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.
Qualifying sixth for the first 35-lap feature, he’d battle side-by-side with Al Inglis for fifth in the opening laps. Coming up short on the battle, he’d end up instead side-by-side with Kendra Adams for sixth until the race’s first yellow flag at Lap 10. Restarting just outside of the top-five, he’d break into the top-five, battling hard throughout the remaining half of the feature right to the checkered flag where he edged out Adams to finish fifth.
Starting third for the second feature, he’d run third through the opening laps, moving into second at Lap 10. He’d remain there until he was passed at Lap 22. The back half of the feature didn’t work out in his favor, as he faded back to sixth by Lap 28, ultimately crossing the finish line in the seventh position.
The team will hope to run in the top-10 once again on Saturday, July 21 in the next night of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Sauble Falls Tent and Trailer Park Late Model competition at Sunset Speedway.
