Jordan Lawrence Gives NG Motorsports Sweep on Saturday Night

After Nick Goetz won the opening feature, teammate Jordan Lawrence came out and won the second to give NG Motorsports a sweep on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.

In the early stages of the feature, though, it was Paul Maltese out front pacing the field ahead of Danny Benedict, as Lawrence battled side-by-side with Nic Montanari for third. Lawrence got the spot, getting alongside Benedict for second as Montanari ran fourth ahead of Al Inglis, Ernie Fumerton and Mike Wilkinson, with Billy Zardo and Kendra Adams side-by-side for eighth.

Fumerton would get alongside Inglis for fifth at Lap 7 ahead of Wilkinson, as Zardo and Adams continued to battle ahead of Gord Shepherd and Goetz. Zardo would go for a slide sideways through turns three and four, allowing Adams to clear him for the spot at Lap 10. Fumeton would take fifth a lap later, with Wilkinson following him through for sixth. Inglis now ran seventh ahead of Shepherd, Adams, Goetz and Zardo, with Connor James and Ron Quesnelle side-by-side for 12th.

With 14 laps on the board, Maltese led Lawrence, Benedict, Montanari, Fumerton, Wilkinson, Shepherd, Adams, and Goetz. Shepherd would get alongside Wilkinson for sixth at Lap 15, with Goetz passing Adams for eighth ahead of Inglis a lap later.

The battle for the lead got interesting at Lap 17, with Lawrence getting alongside Maltese for the top spot ahead of Benedict, Montanari, Fumerton, Shepherd, Wilkinson, Goetz, and Adams. Shepherd then got alongside Fumerton for fifth at Lap 20, completing the pass, followed by getting alongside Montanari for fourth with 13 laps to go.

Lawrence would take the top spot at Lap 23 ahead of Maltese, Benedict, Shepherd, Montanari, and Fumerton. Benedict would then get alongside Maltese for second at Lap 25, as Goetz passed Fumerton to move up into sixth. Goetz then got alongside Montanari for fifth at Lap 25, completing the pass a lap later. Montanari now ran sixth ahead of Fumerton, Wilkinson, Adams, James, Quesnelle, Zardo, and Lorne Quackenbush.

Benedict was finally able to clear Maltese for second with four laps to go, as Quesnelle got alongside James for 11th. He was then able to complete the pass with one lap to go.

Jordan Lawrence picked up the win ahead of Danny Benedict, Paul Maltese, Gord Shepherd, Nick Goetz, Nic Montanari, Ernie Fumerton, Mike Wilkinson, Kendra Adams, Ron Quesnelle, Connor James, Billy Zardo, Lorne Quackenbush, Al Inglis, and Chris McIssac.
