After a solid rookie campaign which saw him place in the top-10 of the year-end Flamboro Speedway standings, Matt Young will return to the 1/3-mile asphalt oval in 2018.
“Looking to be a great season,” he told SHORT TRACK MUSINGS. “We had several top-five finishes last year, and are looking to pick up a few wins.”
With the rookie lessons in hand, Young feels his team can “take what we learned last year” in regards to set-up and being in control on track, and work towards a championship this year, while also being a factor in Flamboro’s mid-season invitationals, the “STOCK” Car Nationals.
“Flamboro has stepped up in a big way with this event with some great payouts,” he said. “Sure to be a great race.”
Calling his rookie campaign “a year to remember,” Young scored seven top-fives and 23 top-10’s en route to placing ninth in the year-end standings.
For Young, he grew up around racing, as his father used to race years ago in Flamboro’s Pro 4 Modified division. Attending an event four years ago at the speedway, Young made the decision that he wanted to go racing himself. Since then, he has had success along the way, with his most memorable moment being winning on Memorial Night in his Pure Stock.
