With a pair of feature victories, Charlie Gallant showed speed en route to placing third in the OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Model standings.
Right from the beginning of the season at Flamboro Speedway, Gallant showed speed. He placed sixth in the opening feature, before leading nine laps en route to a runner-up in the second.
The momentum followed him into June at Kawartha Speedway with a solid fifth. He then returned back to Flamboro, putting together another pair of solid features with two fourth-place finishes.
Entering July on the heels of consecutive top-five finishes, a trip to the beach saw him get one step closer to the feature glory, as he scored a runner-up to Glenn Watson at Sauble Speedway. His return to Kawartha Speedway went equally as well, as he ran inside the top-five for the entire 50 laps en route to a fourth.
The third trip of the year to Flamboro Speedway was when the race fans really caught up to the speed that Gallant was capable of. Running twin 25 lap features, Gallant was solid in the first affair, keeping himself in contention with a fourth. The second event, though, was when all eyes opened widely. Starting on pole, he quickly put a gap on the field, cruising through the second half en route to feature victory.
The month of August saw things continually go well for the driver of the No. 40P South Shore Services Super Late Model with the series’ first trip of 2017 to Peterborough Speedway. Once again, the familiar speed was there and paid off, as Gallant cruised to his second career victory. He then backed it up with a sixth in the second event.
Returning to Peterborough a month later for the Autumn Colours Classic, he capped off the campaign with an eighth-place finish.
On behalf of OSCAAR, congratulations to Charlie Gallant on an impressive 2017 season. We wish you the best of luck in your racing endeavors in 2018.
