Delaware Speedway officials are thrilled to unveil a 2018 schedule that is not only action packed with great touring divisions, but also puts an emphasis on a great weekly program. With several marquee events returning to the schedule and the addition of some new ones, 2018 is set to be a stellar year for the half-mile paved oval, located just outside of London, Ontario.
Three pre-season practice dates in April will allow drivers to get their feet wet before jumping into competition in an action packed month of May. The annual Spring Nationals event will see an overhaul for the upcoming season, with the move from a two day show to a single day of racing. The event will continue to act as a pre-season event with only show up points being offered, however the new format will bring more intensity. May will also see the return of the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series with their twin 50’s event on Saturday, May 19th. The Bone Stocks will also take centre stage on this night with a pair of 50 lap races as well.
June gets geared up in a hurry with the ISMA Supermodifieds, the world’s most powerful short track cars, taking to the famous half-mile on June 1st, alongside the Ontario Pro Challenge Series and Lucas Oil Canadian Vintage Modifieds. After a few weeks of weekly shows fans will be treated to another spectacle of speed with the world’s fastest short track cars, the Auto Value Bumper to Bumper Super Sprints, making a return to the facility after a long hiatus. The very next week the action continues with the APC United Late Model Series on June 29th for the annual Canada Day celebration. Alongside the APC Series will be a special 50 lap Super Stock event and a fan favourite King of the Hill.
July sees the local stars take centre stage for the majority of the month, while the 10,000 pound behemoth’s of Monster Truck Throwdown return for two epic shows on Friday, July 13th and Saturday, July 14th. Each event will feature a monster truck backflip attempt and many other additions after a successful 2017 show.
The month of August will see several weekly racing events as the championship battles begin to wind down and the pressure ramps up. August 18th will see the ISMA Supermodifieds return for a second show, this one a 75 lap spectacle alongside the Lucas Oil Canadian Vintage Modifieds and Ontario Modified Racing Series.
September brings championship night on the 7th, with the Late Models, Super Stocks, Trucks, and V8 Stocks all crowning a 2018 title. The annual Great Canadian Race Weekend will see a shakeup from years past, with all weekly divisions running on Friday, September 14th including a invitational races for all divisions. Saturday, September 15th will see the APC United Late Model Series return for the second time, with this being the championship event for the tour. The Race of Champions Sportsman Modifieds will run alongside the APC Series making for one amazing weekend.
The 2018 season will conclude with three straight special events including the Jetwerx National Motocross Series on September 22nd, the annual Pumpkin Smasher event on September 29th, and the Ice Maker Enduro 150 on October 6th.
