Swapping rides has become the theme for the APC Auto Parts Mini Stock Younggun Shootout, and it produced a third straight different winner.
Behind the wheel of Eric Yorke’s No. 51 Nissan 240sx, Coltin Everingham would go back and forth with Miles Tyson (driving Fred Jordan’s ride) for the lead through the first half of the event, before pulling away in the closing stages of the 20-lap affair en route to victory.
“It was pretty cool,” he told SHORT TRACK MUSINGS. “The car was definitely not built for me, but Eric Yorke has a very fast racecar. So I just had big shoes to fill, and I filled them, so it’s pretty cool.”
Everingham will not focus on his No. 48 Super Stock through the rest of the weekend, in hopes of picking up his first career Autumn Colours Classic victory. He had a solid season at Sunset Speedway this past year, winning two features and scoring nine top-fives.
“It’s the biggest goal here,” he said. “We’ve always done here with our old car. Now we have a very good car. Streamline Race Products built a phenomenal car. We started 10th in the first heat, finished third, so we’ll see what we have at the end there because the car is pretty fast. I’m pretty excited.”
