COLBORNE, Ont. – July 28, 2017 – Michel Beyore made his Ohsweken Speedway debut last Tuesday night when the DIRTcar Sportsman tour’s Western Region rolled into town for the first event of a six race schedule. The 3/8-mile oval dealt an ultra-slick track all night long to the 33-car field that included Beyore.

Beyore timed in sixth fastest in his qualifying group, which put him outside the third row for the start of his heat race. Beyore struggled to find grip on the ice-like surface and slipped to an eighth-place finish.

“It didn’t matter what I tried, I couldn’t get any grip on the track,” Beyore said. “Every time we went out I had a different setup on the car.”

In the B-Main, Beyore drove to a 10th-place finish and qualified to start the 30-lap Feature in 28th. When the checkered flag waved on the main event, Beyore came home in 27th. The slickness of the track truly surprised the Colborne, Ont. pilot aboard his Metals Plus/Millennium Crane/Hoy’s Garage No.54a.

“The Feature was the best setup I had and I still couldn’t get on it,” Beyore said. “We took gear out of it and made some adjustments that were right out of the ballpark. That was as slick as I’ve ever seen. When you looked down and the lights hit it, it looked like ice out there.”

The bottom lane was the preferred groove for most of the top runners, but Beyore used the outside lane as much as he could to keep up his momentum and maintain pace.

“I tried down there and I’d have to go so slow to get any bite,” Beyore said. “The best bite I was getting up at the top for me. I ran with a bunch of guys and everything went smooth. We’ll chalk it up to experience.”

“If I went down there, I was going to spin the car around,” he added. “When I went in the corner, I had to start peddling it because it was going to go around. I did a lot of driving.”

Regardless of the result, Beyore is happy to be adsorbing all of the information and knowledge he can about his DIRTcar Sportsman in his first year in the division on a regular basis.

“I’m still new in the place,” Beyore said of his participation in the Sportsman world. “The slickness at Brockville and is totally different from there. I learned a few more things. I was parked beside the Cosco guys again. They told me a couple of different things to do, so that helped me a bit.”

Beyore currently plans to return to action on Saturday, July 29 at Brockville Ontario Seedway before taking a two week break for a family vacation. Race time is 7:00pm. For additional event information, visitwww.brockvillespeedway.com.
