So far this season, Shawn McGlynn has been impressive on a weekly basis on the APC Auto Parts United Late Model of Ontario Tour, posting a top-seven finish in each of the four events to kick off the 2017 campaign.
“Myself and the team are very happy with our start,” he told Short Track Musings. “Three top-five finishes has us third in points and that’s a great place to be in a crowd of quality drivers and teams.”
McGlynn kicked off the season with a pair of fifth place finishes at Sunset Speedway and Flamboro Speedway, followed by a runner-up at Peterborough Speedway and a seventh-place finish at Delaware Speedway.
“Dave Wood and the whole Meineke team is committed to working as hard as it takes to put a car on the track that is well prepared and plan on finishing every race,” he continued. “We can’t afford a DNF so there isn’t room for mistakes and my guys have been flawless this year.”
Competing up front each week has certainly allowed McGlynn to put his name in the hat for a possible driver to score his first career APC win this season – but he admits that it will be a tall order to get to victory lane with the caliber of talent.
“I think this is the biggest pool of talent I have seen in one division in my 30 years of competition,” he said. “It will be my greatest accomplishment to win an APC race in 2017.”
