For the first time in OSCAAR history, we’re going dirt racing as the OSCAAR Hot Rods will be racing at Brighton Speedway on Saturday night as part of the track’s 50th Anniversary celebration night.
The series will be looking to crown it’s third straight different feature winner after Tyler Hawn and Adam Misener took home the victories in the first two races.
Hawn has already confirmed that he will be in attendance with his 1966 Chevrolet Belmont following a win at Kawartha Speedway and a runner-up at Flamboro Speedway.
“The most exciting thing I see about the Hot Rod Series is that it’s bringing back the roots of racing,” said Tyler Hawn.
Dan Price has featured Derek Henderson in his 1957 Chevrolet for the first two events, but will be behind the wheel of the No. 09 this weekend. Henderson piloted the car to a fourth-place finish at Kawartha, followed by a third at Flamboro.
Jerry Luckhardt made his racing debut at Kawartha Speedway, fighting some adversity through the heats prior to a fifth-place finish in the feature.
Art Rodgers and Steve Mayhew couldn’t make the event at Flamboro due to other commitments, but have stated that this event at Brighton Speedway is on their radar. Both drivers ran into mechanical problems at Kawartha, so it’ll be interesting to see if everything is sorted out this weekend.
Nick Clarke and D’arcy Gibbons have both been putting hours in on their cars, hoping to have them ready for event and their series debuts.
There’s also a possibility to see some drivers in the mix with dirt experience, as some regulars from Ohsweken Speedway may make the trip.
The night will be action-packed as the track has big plans in store. Brought to you by Deerhaven Farm & Garden and Mix 97, the OSCAAR Hot Rods will be joined by the Eastern Ontario Vintage Stock Car Club, 50 Laps for the Vanderlaan Building Products Pro Late Models ($750 to Win), 50 Laps for the OilGARD Anti-Rust Canadian Modifieds ($550 to Win), 50 Laps for the Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks ($350 to Win) including the second Pro Stock Duel on the Dirt Qualifier.
There will be a Live Music from Terry Denyes and the Bay City Band, Classic Race Car display and memorabilia in the court yard from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM. The 2017 Wall of Fame Presentations start at 6:00 PM. Racing starts at 7:00 PM.
Adult admission is $15. It is also 50th Anniversary Nostalgia Night! Anyone that wears a Brighton Speedway Vintage T Shirt receives $5.00 off admission at the front gate or pits.
