This Week’s 5 CRP Drivers to Keep a Close Eye on…….

Lane Zardo
Sunset Speedway Ltd. Late Model

The third-generation racer is entering his second full season of NASCAR Late Model competition. Zardo has not held back when asked of his plans for the 2017 season and if he truly wishes to make a strong first impression the Spring Velocity is the ideal platform. Sunday’s 75-lap main event will test Zardo’s patience and sense of strategy, but a win will most certainly vault ‘The Thrillbilly’ up the provincial depth chart.

Eric Yorke
Sunset Speedway Mini Stock

One of Sunset Speedway’s perennial Mini Stock contenders, Eric Yorke will enter this weekend’s Spring Velocity intent on earning his first feature victory of the season. The Milton, ON native is a former Sunset Speedway champion and has shown considerable speed through his first two appearances of 2017. Yorke’s style is built for extended-distance competition, and if he can save his equipment for a late-race push Yorke could certainly punch his dance ticket towards his first trip to victory lane this year.

Donovan Price
Peterborough Speedway Mini Stock

Donovan Price enters 2017 with hopes of challenging for Peterborough Speedway’s Mini Stock championship. If the veteran is serious about a possible title run, he will need to put together an impressive performance in this weekend’s season opener. Price has earned feature victories at Peterborough in previous seasons, but has not yet experienced championship contention. 2017 could be his turnaround – but he will need to string together consistent podium finishes to do so.

Keith Parkes
Peterborough Speedway Four Fun

One of Peterborough’s foremost senior competitors, family man Keith Parkes will return to the Four Fun division during this weekend’s 2017 season opener. Parkes’ consistent improvement over the course of the last several seasons has been evident, and the likeable Brampton, ON racer will no doubt aim to continue that pattern this year.

Johnny Paradzinski
Sunset Speedway Mini Stock

2016 Sunset Speedway MIGHTY Division champion Johnny Paradzinski has waded into the proverbial deep water this season in taking on the speedway’s veteran-heavy Mini Stock roster. A strong finish in Sunday’s Spring Velocity will go a long way towards the Alliston, ON racer’s confidence and will help prove that the sophomore racer belongs amongst Sunset’s Mini Stock elite.
