Sunset Speedway Releases Tentative 2017 Schedule

Christmas has come a couple days early for some Sunset Speedway fans as the 2017 tentative schedule has been released.

While it appears to be another busy year at the Innisfil, Ontario based track, there doesn’t seem be a lot of change in the error with the schedule closely resembling last year’s. The only change appears to be combining the Mighty Mini and Mini Stock division together to make one division in 2017.

A couple years ago, the track made the decision to split the divisions into two due to having 30-50 mini stocks attending on a weekly basis. With that amount of cars, there’d be 10-20 cars going home before the feature on a weekly basis. Last year, though, the car counts dropped with the Mini Stock counts being in the teen while Mighty Minis ranged from 15-20 cars. As a result, it seemed as though it’d be more adequate to combine them together to have a solid competitive, car count that’d be entertaining for the crowd.

A quick glance over the schedule and all the staple events are mixed in – both Velocities, two APC events, five super late events, four Legend car events, and four events for the Outlaw Midgets.

Sunset Speedway is now the second track to have released their schedule, following Full Throttle Motor Speedway’s release last week. It appears as though Delaware Speedway will be next, following their schedule tease from earlier this week.

    • Given that Sunset Speedway appears to be doing their own super late model division once again and the fact that OSCAAR doesn’t appear on the 2017 schedule, I am going to have to say they will not be there in 2017. As far as ever, you can never tell as things can change in the future.
