Rick Spencer-Walt Scores Just Foam It OSCAAR Modified Victory at Sunset Speedway

INNISFIL, Ontario — When it comes to Sunset Speedway, there’s something about Rick Spencer-Walt and the 1/3 mile semi-banked oval that just seem to click together. It proved to be a match once again on Saturday night, as he won the season opener for the Just Foam It OSCAAR Modifieds.

Strapping behind the wheel of the No. 99 for the second year in a row, the third-generation racer was fast throughout qualifying with a runner-up and a win in his heats. This would set him up to start on the outside of the front row for the feature, which he took advantage of and getting the early jump ahead of Steve Trendell and the rest of the field. He then led the majority of the feature en route to the checkered flag.

While it marks Spencer-Walt’s first career victory in a modified, his car owner Allen Adams has experienced success before in winning a past series championship with Luke Gignac.

2021 OSCAAR Modified Champion T.J Edwards was able to track down A.J. Emms in the late stages, out-battling him for the runner-up spot. Dale Reinhart and Jason Keen rounded out the top-five.

Brad Pearsall ran inside the top-five for the first half, but faded back to sixth ahead of Chris Milwain, Steve Trendell, Tyler Liscum, and Wally Wilson.

Shane Pollock was 11th behind the wheel of his newly-acquired modified, in front of Ryan D’Antimo, Monty Farrell, and Dave Mathers. Darin Malcolm was also in attendance, but was unable to start the main event due to a spin in qualifying.

The qualifying heat races were won by Pearsall, Edwards, Emms, and Spencer-Walt.

The Just Foam It OSCAAR Modifieds are back in action on Saturday, June 1 at Flamboro Speedway alongside the JRS Auctions OSCAAR Hot Rods. It is the Bill Zardo Memorial and season opener for the Hot Rods.
