Mark Dilley Scores Bill Zardo Memorial Victory at Sunset Speedway

INNISFIL, Ontario —- Running up front in both features on Sunday at Sunset Speedway, Mark Dilley would be crowned the overall winner of the Bill Zardo Memorial. It marks the second year a car owned by Tom Walters won the event, with Dwayne Baker picking up the checkered flag a year ago.

After posting the quickest time in qualifying, Mark Dilley ran up front throughout the first 46-lap feature, holding down the runner-up spot behind Rick Spencer-Walt throughout the duration. He then came out strong in the second race, taking the lead with just three laps on the board en route to a dominating performance, With a second and a first, he had the best average finish of all his competitors to top the overall finish.

The day would ultimately end in a three-way tie for second between Rob Bromley, Dwayne Baker, and Cory McAllister, each boasting an average of 3.5. The trio all ran up front throughout the events, with Baker highest in the first feature in third ahead of Bromley and McAllister. McAllister finished the highest of them in the second feature with a runner-up ahead of McAllister and Bromley. The tie breaker would revert back to qualifying, with Bromley getting the edge over Baker and McAllister.

2023 JRS Auctions OSCAAR Hot Rod Champion Tyler Hawn rounded out the top-five with a sixth and a fifth. Rick Spencer-Walt got sixth overall after winning the first feature, though unable to restart the car after the red flag on the first lap for an incident involving McAllister, Dean Jessop, Tyler Ecker, and Tyler Sagan.
