The new faces within the modified division continue to grow, as Adam Evison is thrown his name into the mix this season.
“I’m just looking forward to basically getting behind the wheel again,” he said. “I took last year off, because we wrecked the hot rod at the beginning of the year. We were trying to get with OSCAAR last year. So we’re excited to actually get to go and run with OSCAAR this year in the modified.”
The decision for a modified was simple for Evison when he looked at the logistics of his new build.
“We were originally going to build it into a V8 stock, but the chassis used was legal for a modified, and I’ve always wanted to modified,” he explained. “So we thought, well, let’s just go modified route. It’s not going to cost that much difference to build it and Delaware needs the car count and we can move around OSCAAR with it too.”
Evison will be one of several in the field this weekend at Flamboro Speedway for the Brian McLean Memorial.
“I love Flamboro,” he shared. “I’ve never actually raced Flamboro, but it is one of my favourite places to go to.”
Entering the season, Evison is keeping his goals in check, looking to have a clean year while learning how to make the car go fast.
For Evison, his family has always been involved in racing, dating back to his grandpa running the Hobby car. Both his uncle and dad also raced as well, with his uncle Dave apart of the Canadian Vintage Modifieds at Flamboro Speedway.
“Racing is one of the best sports out there as far as family and friends are concerned,” he commented. “It’s just a tight-knit group and it’s awesome.”
The No. 12 which is on his car this season also ties back to the family, as his father used to run that number on a late model.
