Flamboro Speedway Celebrates 2025 Champions at Annual Awards Banquet

ROCKTON, Ontario — Even though preparations are already in high gear for the 2026 campaign, there was still some left over business to attend to from the 2025 season. This past Saturday February 7, all of the drivers and crews got together to celebrate the track champions and hand out some hardware.

Each of the division champions were awarded their trophies for their championship campaigns this past season, as well as those who placed in the standings behind them. Those champions were Billy Schwartzenburg (Grisdale Racing Products Late Models), Matt Young (Klotz Auto Repair Mini Stocks), and John Cote (Hogan Law & McClurkin Properties Pure Stocks). 2025 Grisdale Racing Products Triple Crown Champion Shae Gemmell and 2025 Steel City Rumble Series Champion Zardo were also recognized.

As per track tradition, those drivers who had perfect attendance throughout the season were recognized and brought to the front of the room. Each of them received a pass which covers their admission into the pits each week for 2026. There were 12 drivers for the Pure Stocks with Chase Mitchell, Chance Rogers, Spencer Riddell, Hailey Hill, Rachel Mitchell, John Cote, Mark Allan, Leo Labarbera, Teagan Ellis, Rick Mitchell, Cam Thomson, and Megan Mitchell. Bobby Mercer, Matt Young, Tyler Lewis, and Chris Pendlebury were recognized for the Mini Stocks, with Kevin Albers and Billy Schwartzenburg following suit for the Late Models.

The Memorial Night winners from September were each brought up to the front of the room to participate in the annual toast and receive a trophy to recognize their accomplishment. Those drivers were Rodney Rutherford (Pure Stocks), Shawn Taylor (Mini Stocks), Karl Sault (Mini Stocks), Shawn Chenoweth (Super Stocks), Tim Norris (Ontario Pro Challenge Series), and Billy Schwartzenburg (Late Models).

Spencer Riddell, Matt Young, and Billy Schwartzenburg each were awarded the “Most Checkered Flags” Award for their respective division for picking up the most feature wins.

Chase Mitchell and Bobby Mercer were the unfortunate recipients of the “Hard Luck Award” after enduring tough seasons in Pure Stock and Mini Stock competition, respectively.

Hailey Hill, Matt Young, and Billy Schwartzenburg each received the “Best Appearing Car Awards” for their respective divisions.

On top of the honors for the season, there were seven new inductees to the Flamboro Speedway Hall of Fame. Each of them was recognized for their past track accomplishments, while brought up to the front to receive a plaque and be offered a chance to make a speech. The new inductees included Bob Munro, Brad Collison, Doug MacLean, Ken Spira, Randy Rusnell, Ricky Seeley, and Ron Lipskie.
