Rodney Rutherford Survives Pure Stock Frostoberfest Chaos for Victory

MILLGROVE, Ontario — In what may had been the most chaotic final five laps of a feature event of the season, Rodney Rutherford was able to come out on top through it all to win the Pure Stock portion of Frostoberfest presented by London Recreational Racing at Flamboro Speedway.

Rodney Rutherford went into the final restart with a couple laps to go on the second row after having battled his way to the front through the second half of the event, including surviving a chaotic three lap sequence just before that. The pair of leaders ahead would make contact going into turn one, opening the bottom lane just enough for Rutherford to get the nose in there. He would make the pass work, taking the spot down the backstretch and pacing the final couple laps en route to the victory.

Phil Givens ran inside the top-five throughout en route to a runner-up finish despite being four-wide as part of the chaos just laps prior ahead of fellow Flamboro Speedway regulars Brandyn Milligan, Mac Ingram, and Gary Slama. Craig Cole was sixth in front of Jo Lawrence, who led the event from Lap 43 to the final restart. Spencer Riddell was eighth in front of Cam Thomson and Austin Etsell.

Reece Bourgeois won the B-Main to qualify for the event, driving her way through traffic for an 11th-place finish, followed by Matt Young. Young was inside the top-five until he went for a slide through turns one and two with a couple laps to go on two separate occasions in the final five laps after contact with the lap cars of Megan Mitchell and Mike Hall. Dan Storey was 13th, followed by Donavin Clarke, Leo Labarbera, Rob Hoskins, Jake Watson, Mike Hall, Rachel Mitchell, and Jake Thompson. Hoskins led the majority of the event until having mechanical issues with a couple laps to go.

Gary Triska was 21st ahead of Rick Mitchell, Chase Mitchell, Megan Mitchell, Patrick Schmidt, Dustin Johnston, Mark Lamont, Brayden Zammit, and Brady Cox. Chase was inside the top-five until he made contact with the outside turn three wall after coming off turn two four-wide with Hall, Givens, and Young.

With over 40 cars on the property, there was a B-Main used to set the starting line up following four qualifying heat races. The heat victories went to Hoskins, Lawrence, Givens, and Thomson.
