INNISFIL, Ontario — Despite battling issues throughout the Junior Hanley Classic, Rick Spencer-Walt battled to a top-five finish.

Spencer-Walt started off the evening by showing speed in qualifying, laying down a lap of 14.652 seconds to put him third quickest on the board.

Taking the green flag on the inside of the second row, he made his way forward into second on Lap 30. He then took over the top spot 15 laps later, extending his advantage a couple car lengths over the field.

Unfortunately, he would be forced down pit road on Lap 60 under the caution flag in feeling the suspension coming apart. It was determined the sway bar had come loose. The team went to quick work in making repairs, getting him back out just in time for the green flag, still on the lead lap ahead of the field. He maintained the distance ahead of the leaders, keeping himself on the lead lap until the mid-race break at Lap 100.

With fuel in the tank, he would stay out under the caution moving him up from 15th to ninth. He then began to move forward as soon as the green flag waved, breaking back into the top-five at Lap 115. He took over third with 30 laps remaining, beginning to close the gap on the runner-up position.

Unfortunately, the sway bar came loose once again, resulting in Spencer-Walt fading back in speed. He would hold on through the remaining laps, taking the checkered flag in fifth.
