Rick Spencer-Walt Scores Feature Victory at Sunset Speedway

INNISFIL, Ontario — The speed continues to be there for Rick Spencer-Walt at Sunset Speedway, as evident by a trip to victory lane on Saturday night.

Spencer-Walt started off the night with speed by laying down the quickest lap in time trials at 14.452 seconds to place the No. 31W Late Model on the pole. Although he grabbed the advantage off the green flag, he did not go without challenge as Dwayne Baker fought on each of the restarts to try and get by for the top spot.

Even with a green-white-checkered restart to cap off the race, Spencer-Walt came out on top with the victory.

He drew an invert of four for the second 35-lap affair, setting him up to start on the outside of row two. He quickly took over the third position, ready to reel the leaders in ahead of him. Unfortunately, the brakes heated up too much unexpectedly, resulting in the No. 31W Late Model fading the second half, with Spencer-Walt crossing the finish line in fourth.

The following day, he made the trip on Sunday to Flamboro Speedway for the Gold Rush 123. He started off strong by placing inside the top-five during practice. However, the engine would let go through the second half of the session, ending his chances of winning early.
