MILLGROVE, Ontario — Making his second appearance in the APC Auto Parts United Late Model Series, Cole Quinton saw his night end early following contact on a late-race restart.
Quinton started off the afternoon by laying down a best lap of 15.380 seconds in time trials, setting him up to take the green flag for the London Recreational Racing 100 in 18th-place. He did not let that deter him when the race started, beginning to methodically work his way through the field.
He found himself just outside the top-10 following a rain delay, where he’d be one of several caught up in an incident on a restart when another car changed lines at the front of the field. He was credited with a 16th-place finish.
“Learned a ton last night, and learned how you have to race in these races,” he commented afterwards. “Lots of lessons learned the hard way but even with that we were in a good position to have ourselves a solid run. Can’t thank everyone enough who makes this possible.
“Gonna be a long week ahead of us, but we aren’t slowing down. Looking forward and looking for more.”
Quinton will be back in action this Saturday, July 22 at Flamboro Speedway for their next night of weekly competition. It is also Meet the Drivers Night, which will give you the chance to come out on the frontstretch during intermission and say hello to all the competitors.
Quinton has scored eight top-10’s in 10 races this season, including a trio of top-five’s.
