Mombourquette, Bullen, Lusk, Ferguson Victorious at Sunset Speedway

Another week is in the books for Sunset Speedway race fans, who got treated to seeing a pair of familiar faces and a pair of new winners in victory lame this past Saturday night.

Dustyn Mombourquette is proving to be the driver to beat in the Limited Late Models, as he led flag-to-flag en route to the checkered flag in front of Kendra Adams, Paul Maltese, Daniel Montanari, Al Inglis, and Ryan D’Antimo.

After taking a couple weeks away from the track, Josh Bullen returned to make his way forward after starting seventh to take the top spot on Lap 8, and pace the field the rest of the way en route to the checkered flag. Chris Allard turned around some of his recent bad fortunes into a runner-up in front of Jason D’Antimo, Coleridge Phinnemore, and Peter Wakeling. John Bird placed sixth, followed by Eric Rainey, Bob Phinnemore, Madison Tienkamp and Wyatt Sutcliffe.

Several drivers ran into issues, failing to finish, including Chandler Bos and Cameron McGlashan. Notably, Matt Boyes who had won the previous three consecutive features suffered a crash during qualifying.

Aundrea Lusk came close to winning a couple weeks ago, and wasn’t about to be denied this time around. She took the lead on Lap 3, and led the feature the rest of the way en route to her first career feature victory. Andrew Shilling came back from a qualifying crash to finish second, followed by Jacob Booth, Calvin Reesor, and Phil Givens. Brandon Steele placed sixth ahead of Jordan Owen, Austyn Jennett, Spencer Riddell, and Cash Ireton. Jack Bird was 11th, followed by Matt Christie, Karlie Wilman, Cole Walker, and Nicholas Reece.

Oliver Ferguson has ran strong all year in the Jr Late Models, and got to shine on Saturday night with a trip to feature victory lane in front of Keegan Moat, Jake Spencer-Walt, and Morgan Moore.
