Wally Wilson’s Sunset Double Derailed by Mechanical Gremlins

INNISFIL, Ontario — Despite the scorching heat on Saturday at Sunset Speedway, Wally Wilson attempted to perform double duty of his own style, only to be met with mechanical gremlins across the board.

Behind the wheel of his Canadian Legend Car Series entry, Wilson placed eighth in both of his qualifying heats. He went to start the 25-lap feature that night, though was unable to with the car not starting due to battery issues.

On the flip side with his Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modified, Wilson placed ninth and eighth in his qualifying heats. It would set him up to take the green flag from 16th for the 40-lap feature, with his sights set up on making up ground early. He would squeak by an incident at the halfway mark, and battled not having power steering en route to a 14th-place finish.

Wilson will be back behind the wheel of the Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC OSCAAR Modified on July 1 and July 2 at Delaware Speedway.

Wally Wilson Racing is proud to be supported by The Fyre Place & Patio Shop, HAVE1.COM, Mister transmission Owen Sound, Napoleon, and RPM Racewear in 2022.
