Richard Woodland Caps off Championship Campaign with Fall Velocity

INNISFIL, Ontario — After running upfront all season long, Richard Woodland ended the year off in victory lane, winning the Outlaw Midget Fall Velocity feature at Sunset Speedway.

The first heat started off with contact, as Mike Bradley drove over Jody Bound’s wheel on the backstretch. Dave Bradley won in front of Larry Lawson, Jessica James, Wayne McKibbon, and Jamie Kay.

The second qualifier saw a quick spin, with Dave Inglis going around as he tried to get by Josh Inglis. Richard Woodland wound up in victory lane ahead of Kevin Spiez, Adam Tyo, Zach Millman, and Dave Inglis. Rob Harrison would get a black flag, while Jeff Blackburn did not take the green flag.

Jessica James picked up the checkered flag in the third heat in front of Dave Bradley, Lawson, Kay, McKibbon, Bound, and Bradley.

Richard Woodland went for the daily double ahead of Harrison, Tyo, and Millman, as Spiez pulled off with mechanical issues. Inglis and Blackburn did not take the green flag.

Come feature time, Jamie Kay started pole in front of Wayne McKibbon, Zach Millman, Kevin Spiez, Larry Lawson, Dave Bradley, Richard Woodland, Mike Bradley, Rob Harrison, Tyo, Jessica James, and Dave Inglis.

Jamie Kay grabbed the early advantage, with Spiez and McKibbon side-by-side for second. Bradley would try to take them three-wide for the spot, but it’d be Spiez pulling ahead on Lap 2.

Bradley took the third spot, moving into second on Lap 3, bringing Woodland through with him. Bradley would take over the lead three laps later as the caution came out for Inglis going around for the spin.

Richard Woodland snagged the lead on the restart, with Dave Bradley in second as his brother Mike moved into third. Mike then got loose on Lap 8, allowing both Spiez and Kay to get back by for third and fourth, respectively.

Dave would challenge Woodland for the top spot on Lap 9, taking it over two laps later as Spiez ran third in front of Mike, Kay, McKibbon, Harrison, Adam Tyo, Lawson, Millman, and Dave Inglis. Tyo continued to move forward, taking over seventh on Lap 15, bringing Lawson and Millman through with him as Harrison now ran 10th.

The leaders found themselves knee-deep in traffic as the laps closed down towards the end, with Richard Woodland using it to his advantage, as he got by Dave Bradley and led the final five laps en route to scoring the victory. Mike Bradley finished third, while Kevin Spiez and Jamie Kay rounded out the top-five. Wayne McKibbon placed sixth, followed by Wayne McKibbon, Dave Inglis, Adam Tyo, Larry Lawson, Zach Millman, Rob Harrison, and Jessica James. Jody Bound and Jeff Blackburn did not the start the feature.

The next event for the Outlaw Midgets will take place as part of the Autumn Colours Classic at Peterborough Speedway on October 9.
