INNISFIL, Ontario — The couple of frustrating weeks to start the season for Spencer-Walt Motorsports are in the rearview, as Rick Spencer-Walt parked the No. 31 Late Model in victory lane on Saturday night.
He started off the night holding a checkered flag, scoring the victory in his first heat. He then backed it up with a runner-up in the second qualifier.
Starting fourth in the feature, Spencer-Walt would battle side-by-side with Billy Zardo in the early laps for third, taking over the spot on Lap 4. He then waste no time moving forward, taking over the runner-up spot four laps later. He’d remain there until the first caution of the event on Lap 17.
Restarting on the front row, he would battle for the lead with Dustyn Mombourquette. The pair would go back and forth over the next three restarts across the next five laps, with Spencer-Walt grabbing the lead on Lap 26.
He then led the final four laps without any issues to score the victory.
The Eldon Wallis owned team is proud to receive sponsorship this season from Jim Wilson Chevrolet, Jordan Rooley – Investment Specialist of Scotiabank Bradford, McColl Racing Enterprises, TL Tire, Heidi’s RV Superstore, Byer’s Equipment Motorsports, Auto Trim Barrie, GreenSteelRoof.ca, CGE, MS Sports, and Short Track Musings.
