Outlaw Midget Rookie Battle Remains Close Entering Fall Velocity

There are four races on the table left for the Outlaw Midgets, but there’s just one event left on the table before the 2019 Rookie of the Year is decided.

Following the series’ recent event at Sunset Speedway, Josh Inglis ranks ninth in the series standings, though with Julia Capirchio right behind him in 10th, just 33 points behind.

Both drivers entered the Outlaw Midget division with experience from other racing classes. Inglis spent a couple seasons behind the wheel of a mini stock at Sunset Speedway, while Capirchio cut her teeth in go-karts before moving into the Ontario Pro Challenge Series.

They have also put up the numbers this season, including a top-10 finish for Inglis in the last three races. Meanwhile, Capirchio suffered through some mid-summer bad luck, but has still been able to lay down a pair of top-10 finishes in 2019.

Sunset Speedway’s Fall Velocity will ultimately see one of those two drivers head home with the prize, and it seems fitting as both drivers have ran well there before. Josh Inglis enters with the upper-hand with a track-best fourth in his previous appearances, but Capirchio has shown with a track-best 10th.

There are several other rookies in the series that have impressed this year, as well, including Dave Inglis with a ninth-place finish in the season opener at Sunset Speedway, and Corey Adams scoring a top-five and three top-10’s in four starts.

So it goes without saying – the future for the Outlaw Midgets looks strong.
