The black and white flags keep flying for Connor James, as he made it a clean sweep this season with his victory in the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series event at Sunset Speedway on Saturday.
James started off the night fast, laying down the quickest lap in time trials at 15.616 seconds, though started fourth following the invert. Despite being challenged through the second half, he managed to hold onto the top spot for the victory.
The championship battle remains close, as Kevin Gallant finished second after leading 32 laps. As a result, the pair will now enter the final race of the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series season at Flamboro Speedway on September 14 tied for the top spot.
Brent Wheller finished third on Saturday night, followed by Chad McGlynn and Michael Hryniuk. Steve Arrand finished sixth, followed by Doug Cathcart, Steve Aubertin, Alvin McNicol, and Bob Merrifield.
Anthony Folino and Kevin Trevelin followed, with Brandon McFerran 13th following mechanical issues after leading seven laps. B.J. Harrison rounded out the field in 14th.
