INNISFIL, Ontario — Taking part in the Mini Stock 50-lap invitational at Sunset Speedway, Eric Yorke picked up the victory while Lisa DeLeeuw turned in a respectable performance in the full size grid.
Eric Yorke started off the afternoon fast, by winning his first heat with DeLeeuw placing sixth. Yorke went on to win his second qualifier, with DeLeeuw fifth.
The pair would start at opposite ends of the grid, with Yorke starting on pole while DeLeeuw was 21st. Yorke quickly took advantage of his starting position, breaking out to the early lead as he grew a sizable lead over the field, beginning to put cars a lap down quickly.
The race appeared to have a green flag look to it, as the first 37 laps went green without a single yellow flag. The next stretch was a little messy, with a couple back-to-back cautions, but both DY Racing drivers managed to stay out of trouble throughout.
On each restart, Yorke battled hard against fellow front runner Samantha Shaw, though was able to get the jump with six laps to go, cruising to the victory. DeLeeuw, meanwhile, battled hard through each of the restarts, ultimately crossing the finish line in 15th.
