INNISFIL, Ontario — Battling hard throughout the 50-lap feature, Robbie Sikes would score a top-10 finish on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.
Sikes started off the night showing speed, finishing second in his first qualifier, followed by a fifth in the second heat.
Starting fifth for the 50-lap feature, Sikes would drop back in the early stages, battling side-by-side with Kendra Adams for ninth as of Lap 8. He would continue dropping back, ultimately running 11th by Lap 14. He’d remain there until contact with six laps to go. Another driver would spin, allowing Sikes to come down pit road under caution to change the left front tire.
Restarting from the tail of the field, he was able to make up some ground on the restart, ultimately crossing the finish line in ninth.
The result ultimately gives the team confidence heading into the last two months of racing, as it marked their fourth top-10 of 2019.
With a 50 lap feature on deck for Saturday, August 24 at Sunset Speedway, Sikes will hope to combine patience with speed, and be there when it counts at the checkered flag with a solid run.
