INNISFIL, Ontario — Battling hard throughout the night, including rubbing some fenders along the way, Andrew Shiling put together a solid performance en route to a top-10 finish on Saturday night at Sunset Speedway.
Shiling started off his night well by finishing third in his first heat, before scoring a runner-up in the third qualifier despite some mid-race contact with a fellow competitor.
Starting on pole for the feature, he would drop back a couple positions in the early stages, battling side-by-side for fourth on Lap 3. He would ultimately fall back a couple more spots, running fifth as of Lap 6. Things would get a little rough for Shiling the next lap, as a fellow competitor would make contact with him off of turn four. Shiling then returned the favor, spinning his competitor down the backstretch.
Although he initially dropped back another two positions following the contact, he would get by a pair of fellow competitors in the late stages of the event en route to a sixth-place finish.
Shiling will continue his season next weekend at Sunset Speedway on Sunday, May 19 as part of the Spring Velocity race weekend.
