INNISFIL, Ontario — The consistency continues through the summer for Ron Quesnelle as he would post his seventh straight top-five finish at Sunset Speedway on Saturday night.
The night didn’t start off as smooth as he’d qualify eighth for the first feature, dropping back to 10th in the early stages. He’d remain there until a caution at Lap 10, where he’d avoid the incident to move up a spot to ninth. Restarting just inside of the top-10 with 25 laps to go, he’d get alongside Nic Montanari for eighth at Lap 18, but was unable to complete the pass. He would eventually get up to eighth, though, when another competitor had mechanical issues with 10 laps to go. From there on, he was unable to make up any ground, crossing the finish line in eighth.
The second feature would see him start closer to the front in third, which he’d hold onto through the early stages of the feature, despite being heavily challenged from behind. The battle would carry all the way till the first caution at Lap 14. Restarting fourth, he’d once again battle side-by-side for position, with the yellow flag coming right back out for an incident deep in the field. The second restart wouldn’t go as well as the previous, though, as he’d drop back to fourth in the early stages. From there on, he kept himself solidly in position, crossing the line in the fourth position.
Quesnelle will be back in action on the next night of points racing at Sunset Speedway, which will be Saturday, August 11.
