Jody Bound Holds off James for Outlaw Midget Victory at Sauble

Despite being heavily challenged as he weaved his way through the lap traffic, Jody Bound scored yet another Outlaw Midget feature victory on Sunday at Sauble Speedway.

Jessica James won the first heat ahead of Bound, Steve Lassman, Rob McCall, Dave Bradley, Zack Millman, Robin McLean, Wayne McKibbon, Kevin Spiez, and Dylan Little as Larry Lawson broke.

Amanda McCall won the second heat ahead of Brian Woodland, Richard Woodland, Ryan Brown, Wally Wilson, Adam Tyo, Nigel Buttivant, Mikey Homewood, Monty Farrell, and Eric Wagner.

Come feature time, Wayne McKibbon started pole ahead of Adam Tyo, Zack Millman, Ryan Brown, Rob McCall, Richard Woodland, Steve Lassman, Brian Woodland, Jody Bound, Jessica James, Kevin Spiez, Dylan Little, Nigel Buttivant, Mikey Homewood, Monty Farrell, Amanda McCall, Dave Bradley, Robin McLean, Wally Wilson, Larry Lawson, and Eric Wagner.

Tyo grabbed the early lead off the drop of the green flag ahead of Brown and McCall. However, it didn’t take long for the quick cars to move their way forward, as it’d be McCall and James side-by-side for second on Lap 2, with Bound alongside Brown for fourth. James got the second spot on Lap 3, immediately getting alongside Tyo for the lead.

James would take the top spot on Lap 4 ahead of Bound, Tyo, Rob McCall, Amanda McCall, Richard Woodland, Brian Woodland, Brown, and Lassman. Amanda  would then pass both Tyo and Rob to move into third on Lap 7, with Rob passing Tyo for fourth.

Tyo now ran fifth ahead of the Woodland brothers and Lassman. The shuffling continued with Brian Woodland moving into fifth on Lap 9 ahead of Tyo and Richard Woodland, with Richard and Lassman passing Tyo on Lap 12, with Brown looking to follow them through.

At the front of the field, the leaders would find themselves weaving in and out of traffic, and that would play a role in their battle for the top spot. When James got slowed up a little, Bound took advantage to grab the lead on Lap 13. However, James responded, snagging it back when Bound got caught up four laps to go.

The race would be slowed once by a caution, and that came on Lap 18 for Homewood making significant contact with the turn four wall. He would be okay, but done for the event. With seven laps to go, James led Bound, Amanda McCall, Rob McCall, Lassman, Brian Woodland, Richard Woodland, Tyo, Brown, Wilson, Bradley, Buttivant, McKibbon, Spiez, and Millman.

Bound got a good restart to grab the lead ahead of James, with Amanda McCall continuing to run third ahead of Rob McCall, Wilson, and Brian Woodland as Tyo lost some major ground due to having a major bounce through turns one and two. Wilson would then get alongside Woodland for fifth at Lap 22, completing the pass a lap later.

Jody Bound scored the victory ahead of Jessica James, Amanda McCall, Rob McCall, Wally Wilson, Brian Woodland, Steve Lassman, Richard Woodland, Dave Bradley, Nigel Buttivant, Ryan Brown, Kevin Spiez, and Wayne McKibbon as Millman went around on the last lap.
