INNISFIL, Ontario — In an interesting twist of events, someone other than Cameron McGlashan drove the No. 00 Mustang in the Signs of Innovation Mini Stock feature on Saturday night.
McGlashan began the night behind the wheel, finishing fourth in his first heat, followed by a third in the second despite being spun mid-way through by a fellow competitor.
After qualifying was complete, McGlashan was made aware that fellow competitor Dylan Holmes was experiencing problems with his No. 2 Mustang. With Holmes sitting fourth in points, the decision was made to lend him the Dave Middel owned No. 00 Mustang, while McGlashan start and parked the No. 2 Mustang to earn last-place points.
Come feature time, Holmes started the No. 00 Mustang in 10th, while McGlashan started the No. 2 Mustang in 11th. As per the plan, McGlashan made his way down on pit road on Lap 2, done for the event. Meanwhile, Holmes began to make his way forward immediately, until he was black flagged by track officials for the exhaust dragging on Lap 6. While the call was argued against by the team as the exhaust hasn’t changed location all season, Holmes made his way down pit road. After the necessary repairs were made, he returned the track with five laps to go, ultimately crossing the checkered line in 10th, with McGlashan credited with a 11th-place finish.
While the night of racing did not go as planned, the team was still in good spirits as they welcomed new sponsor G.D. Coates Used Car Superstore on-board the No. 00 Mustang for the rest of the season.
Located at 425 Dunlop Street West in Barrie, they have been the number one stop for used cars since being established in 1994. Since then, they’ve earned the reputation of having great prices, a massive inventory, and financing for everyone. Be sure to visit their location, or check out their website at https://www.gdcoatessuperstore.ca/ to see for yourself.
McGlashan’s next appearance at Sunset Speedway in the Signs of Innovation Mini Stock division is set for Saturday, July 28. Racing starts at 6pm, with the front gates opening at 4:30pm.
McGlashan is proud to receive sponsorship from G.D. Coates Used Car Superstore, Arbor Aces Tree Care Inc, ORVAuto, and Orillia Metal Fabrication.
