Danny Benedict found the best way to end a season, and the best way to open another as he bookended the winter with trips to victory lane.

After winning last year’s Velocity 250, Benedict has opened the 2018 campaign with a feature victory. Starting in the runner-up position, he was able to make the early pass on Nick Goetz to take the race lead, pacing the rest of the way en route to checkered flag.

Goetz held on to score a second-place finish after starting on pole, marking his fifth straight top-five dating back to the tail end of last year. Travis Hallyburton snagged the last spot on the podium, marking his third consecutive top-five. Jason Parker made his return to the limited late model competition at Sunset Speedway with a fourth, followed by Gord Shepherd.

Ron Quesnelle finished sixth, followed by Dwayne Baker, Rick Spencer-Walt, Paul Maltese, and Lane Zardo. Mike Wilkinson finished 11^th, followed by Jordan Latimer, Thayne Hallyburton, Connor James, Nic Montanari, Jordan Lawrence, and Ernie Fumerton.
