Hallyburton Brothers Go 1-2 at Sunset Speedway, Again

The Hallyburton brothers are proving their fast, as they led the way on Saturday night with a 1-2 finish. While last week it was Travis Hallyburton leading the way, this week it was Thayne Hallyburton with the victory in the Sauble Falls Tent and Trailer Park Late Model feature at Sunset Speedway.

Following qualifying, it’d be Travis Hallyburton on pole ahead of Nick Goetz, Thayne Hallyburton, Mike Bentley, Rick Spencer-Walt, Gord Shepherd, Taylor Holdaway, Brittney Gresel, Paul Maltese, Kendra Adams, Chris Morrow, Ernie Fumerton, Ron Quesnelle, Mike Wilkinson, Jordan Latimer, Al Inglis, Mike Meyer and John Lockhart.

The feature didn’t start off smoothly as Goetz slipped up down the backstretch, stacking up the field. The result would be Quesnelle, Latimer and Morrow all spinning, with Inglis taking a trip through the grass, while Lockhart made significant contact with Quesnelle. All drivers would be okay, but it marked an early end to the event for Quesnelle, Morrow and Lockhart.

The second attempt to start the event went smoother with Thayne Hallyburton leading Travis Hallyburton and Spencer-Walt as Holdaway and Bentley went side-by-side for fourth. Holdaway got the spot on Lap 3 ahead of Bentley, with Shepherd running sixth ahead of Maltese and Gresel as Adams, Fumerton and Goetz went three-wide for ninth. Goetz got the spot on Lap 5 ahead of Adams, with Wilkinson getting alongside Fumerton.

Behind them, Latimer ran 13th with six laps on the board ahead of Meyer and Inglis. Inglis headed down pit road on the following lap, though, with a problem. Goetz would look to continue his climb, getting alongside Gresel for eighth at Lap 8 ahead of Adams, with Fumerton and Wilkinson still side-by-side.

Fumerton got 11th on Lap 10, with Latimer getting alongside Wilkinson next. Goetz cleared Gresel a lap later, getting alongside Maltese for seventh. He would then take the seventh spot on Lap 12 ahead of Maltese and Gresel.

With 14 laps on the board, Thayne Hallyburton led Travis Hallyburton, Spencer-Walt and Holdaway with Bentley and Shepherd side-by-side for fifth ahead of Goetz, Maltese and Gresel. Bentley would clear Shepherd for fifth at Lap 18, with Goetz getting alongside next. Goetz got the spot, followed by passing Bentley for fifth on Lap 21, as Shepherd got alongside Bentley for sixth.

Behind them, Maltese ran seventh ahead of Gresel, Adams, Wilkinson, Latimer and Meyer. Shepherd would get the sixth spot on Lap 25 ahead of Bentley, with Gresel getting alongside Maltese for seventh. Goetz continued his climb forward, getting alongside Holdaway for fourth ahead of Shepherd, Bentley and Maltese.

Goetz got the fourth spot on Lap 28 ahead of Holdaway, Shepherd and Bentley as Gresel got alongside Maltese once again for seventh, ahead of Adams, Fumerton, Wilkinson, Latimer and Meyer. With three laps to go, Shepherd got alongside Holdaway for fifth, completing the pass a lap later. Spencer-Walt was then able to get alongside Travis Hallyburton for second on the white flag lap.

Thayne Hallyburton picked up the win ahead of Travis Hallyburton, Rick Spencer-Walt, Nick Goetz, and Gord Shepherd. Thayne Hallyburton finished sixth, followed by Mike Bentley, Paul Maltese, Andrew Gresel, and Kendra Adams. Ernie Fumerton finished 11th, followed by Mike Wilkinson, Jordan Latimer and Mike Meyer.
