Four-Way Tie For Top Mini Stock Qualifier at Spring Velocity

It appears the competition is bar-none for the Signs of Innovation Mini Stocks for the Spring Velocity, as it was a four-way tie for top qualifier.

The first heat started off messy, with Craig Kamrath spinning around in turn two on Lap 2 as a wheel went flying off his car. 2012 Sunset Speedway Mini Stock Champion Eric Yorke picked up the win ahead of Nic Montanari,  Will Gibbons, Johnny Paradzinski, Daniel Montanari, Cory Young, Mike Robinson Jr., Rino Montanari and Lisa DeLeeuw.

The second heat also didn’t start cleanly, with Branden Bullen going around after contact with Warren Paxton.  Sauble Speedway Paul Boyd won ahead of Paxton, Josh Bullen, Brian Wilson, Branden Bullen,  Thomas Dunn,  Chandler Bos, Bob Phinnemore and Eric Rainey.

Sauble Speedway regular Will Gibbons won the third heat ahead  of Daniel Montanari, Eric Yorke, Mike Robinson Jr., Nic Montanari, Johnny Paradzinski,  Craig Kamrath, Rino Montanari and Lisa DeLeeuw.

Sunset Speedway rookie Josh Bullen got his first career victory in the fourth heat ahead of Chandler Bos, Paul Boyd, Melissa Bullen, Paul Wilson, Warren Paxton, Thomas Dunn, Bob Phinnemore and Eric Rainey.

With the heats in the books, there are four drivers tied for the top qualifier, each boosting an average finish of second. Easily  put, it’s  the four heat winners – Eric Yorke, Paul Boyd, Will Gibbons and Josh Bullen. Along with winning their respective heat, they each finished third in the other qualifier they ran. The method to breaking the tie for who will roll the invert dice (if there is one) is unknown at this time.

Behind them, brothers Nic and Daniel Montanari tied for fifth top-qualifier with an average of 3.5, followed by Warren Paxton at four.  The Mayor’s average is not a true radar of his performance, though, as he had a quick car, but no luck. After being involved in the incident in heat one, he got boxed in during heat two not allowing progress to be made.

Three drivers sit eighth tied at 4.5 – Brian Wilson, Branden Bullen and Chandler Bos, with Johnny Paradzinski in 11th at a fifth. Mike Robinson Jr. sits 12th on the standings, followed by Thomas Dunn, Cory Young, Rino Montanari, Bob Phinnemore, Craig Kamrath, Lisa DeLeeuw and Eric Rainey.

With rain in the forecast, Sunset Speedway officials made the decision to postpone the features from Sunday to Monday afternoon. So be sure to head out on Victoria Day and enjoy some great racing.
