Racing in his first event of the 2017 season at Sunset Speedway, Robert Toope was solid all race long en route to a top-20 finish.
The past Mighty Mini feature winner began the night solidly with a pair of fifths in his qualifying heats, which resulted in him having to run the b-main to qualify for the main event.
Starting on the front row, he battled side-by-side with Stefan Woyslaw for the lead over the first three laps, before fading back to second behind him. Throughout the remainder of the 20 laps, he continued to run second, crossing the finish line in the runner-up spot to easily qualify for the feature.
Starting 19th for the 25-lap feature, Toope made up ground early as he ran 17th as of the first caution at Lap 4. From there on out, he continued to lay down solid laps time, eventually crossing the finish line in 17th.
Toope is proud to be supported by The Beach Bar and Grill, Trade Mark Signs, Rikota Mechanical, CCL Landscape Design, Auto Trim Barrie, The Tree Guys, Jimmy Sign (Adcon Enterprize), Revolution Tires, Highway 400 Transmission, The Stump King (Jim Herrington), Atkins Appliance, and South Bound Roofing in memory of Lloyd Robbins.
