After a pair of solid seasons in the Super Stock division, Coltin Everingham is stepping up his game for the 2017 season as he’s in the process of building a brand new car.

“My thoughts going in to 2017 are unbearable; I’m nervous and excited to hit the track,” he told Short Track Musings. “Building a car out of the Streamline race shop, Scott Wylie and Shaun McWhirter have done a phenomenal job working on this car! It sure is going to be a hot rod!”

Everingham says his team made the decision to go with a new car because they want to be more competitive this upcoming season, adding, “This super stock class is by far one of The toughest division in Ontario, you have to have pretty near the best of the best!”

“Racing has evolved so much over the last 17 years its crazy,” he said. “Nothing is the same anymore! Our super stocks are like late models. My thoughts right now is 2017 will be the hardest, most toughest year. The competition isn’t screwing around this year. If you get a heat win or feature you know damn well you earned it.”

With a new set of wheels underneath him, the driver of the No. 48 Dwayne Clugstun Century 21, Wix, Permatex and Cabral Racing Promotions Super Stock says he drive harder than he has ever before, doing more homework and being more expectations.

“Expectations are pretty high,” he continued. “I want to get into the top five, work hard at a feature win! Work harder at the Autumn Colours Classic.”

The high expectations come after being “discouraged” with the performance this season, finishing 13th in points with only one feature top-10 finish.

“We worked so hard last year and it didn’t pay off,” he said. “That’s including always fixing the car, painting it and making sure it always looked the best of its ability on and off the track.”

Now with a new car underneath him, it seems the sky is the limit for the second generation racer, who certainly will have help in his corner this year through Streamline and his father Wally Everingham.

“Its pretty cool having someone that’s raced and kinda knows how this all feels to be on our team,” he said.
