TORONTO, Ontario —- After having success in a vast array of different cars whether on dirt and asphalt, Austin Seburn will take the next step of his young racing career in joining the Ontario Sportsman Series full-time in 2026.
“I mean I think this is something I’ve dreamt of,” he told Short Track Musings. “I’ve always wanted to do asphalt racing especially, and I couldn’t ask for more. This is awesome especially being part of the Two Speed Motorsports team. You can’t ask for more; they’re pretty much the Hendrick (Motorsports) of OSS and I’m a loss of words.”
Seburn will be partaking in the full series schedule under the Two Speed Motorsports team, which is ran by Cory McAllister. He will be battling alongside teammates Connor James and Jade Franklin. Even with it being his rookie year, Seburn is ready to chase after a championship and hopes there’s week where Two Speed makes up the full podium.
“I think Connor James is the guy with the most amount of wins of all-time in the series,” Seburn commented. “So having him as a teammate means a lot of course and being able to learn and lean against him and being one of my peers especially and learning from him is something you can’t ask for really much more than that. So, of course Cory is like one of the best owners of OSS and he knows a lot about them when even if you’re not making them much sense like me – I don’t know any of the code words you use – he can really understand you especially for a rookie driver like me.”
Seburn made his series debut in the finale last year at Sunset Speedway, using the event to complete all the laps and learn as much as he could throughout.
“It’s really just driving the car,” he reflected. “These cars are so much different. I went from a Legend car to one of these and Legend cars are a lot more twitchy, but it’s just again, learning the clutch with the Legend. I can’t even say how much it helped me with burning this clutch and learning this shifting and all of that fun stuff.
“Especially again with the dirt car too, my sportsman, it helped me a lot and with the shifting and really – it’s all about shifting I would say. It’s all about getting used to that and stuff like that fun stuff.”
Looking ahead at the schedule on tap for the series this year, Seburn admits he is excited to get to Delaware Speedway, even if his dad thinks it’s really big and a little nervous. However for Seburn, “I don’t get scared in cars; that’s not a thing that has ever happened to me. I’ve been nervous but I’m very excited for that.”
