Keegan Moat Ready for Sophomore Bandolero Campaign

TORONTO, Ontario — After a solid 2025 campaign that saw him get his feet wet in Ontario Bandolero competition in a good way, Keegna Moat will be returning to the series this season.

I’m really excited to start off my 2026 season,” Moat told Short Track Musings. “Last year was a bit of a challenge for us for some races – we got a couple do not finish, but we were really happy and thankful for the finishes and results we got at the end of the season.”

After having success in Jr Late Model competition at Sunset Speedway, Moat made the jump up to the Bandolero division last year.

“The bandaleros are faster,” he compared the pair. “It’s way more horsepower. You can really bring more speed from the straightaway into the corners. The Junior Late Models are fun and a great experience to try. It’s really rough because there’s no suspension in it.”

He was able to capitalise on his experience at Sunset to pick up a couple checkered flags there, but admittedly struggled when the tour visited Sauble Speedway and Peterborough Speedway.

“It felt really special for winning at Sunset especially that they closed for this season,” Moat reflected. “I grew up there and just happy I got a couple more wins there before it shut down.”

Now as he gets ready for the sophomore campaign, Moat is hoping for consistency as “that’s what matters in this series,” and will hope to improve as a driver via getting more experience and reviewing previous race videos.

If Moat can continue to have success, he is hoping to progress up the racing ladder and get into a bigger car down the road.

“I hope to pursue my dream of the CARS tour and I think I can make it there with all the support I have,” he commented. “Thanks to all my sponsors and especially Sam (Moore) for getting me to this point. Hopefully I can get to that point and just very thankful to be here.”
