After going through a year that included struggling with engines and tires among other things, Ryan Dyson is ready to put in the rearview and turn the 2026 season in one filled with success all the way through.D
In fact, he is already predicting it will be his most successful season to date due to the amount of “work to research, upgrade and learn about all aspects of the race car” alongside Velocity Racecars in through the past couple of the months.
It’s why the goal for the super stock season at Delaware Speedway is simple in wanting to “win multiple races and compete for the championship,” with hopes of returning back to victory lane when the Dayco Series visits the half-mile oval, including the 75-lap event in September.
As mentioned, last season was not the best for Dyson in the super stock, ranking sixth in the final Dayco Super Stock Series standings with four top-10 finishes.
“Last season was rough,” Dyson told Short Track Musings. “We had our moments, but the season was plagued with engine issues and other things out of our control. We had an average finish of 6th place, so it was not bad per say, but by our standards it was. It was certainly a humbling season coming off a fantastic 2024, but all it did was light a fire under us that should hopefully be worrisome for the competition.”
Dyson will also get back behind the wheel of a late model, teaming up with Major Motorsports to run a pair of events this summer. After having “a great experience” last year, he is looking forward to pushing the limits more this season.
“The goal is to be competitive again, but this time let loose and see where we can run,” he commented. “It is nerve wracking racing somebody else’s car, but the two races this year, we need to get that out of mind and go perform, especially with plans to move into the series full-time soon.
“I am excited to race. Major Motorsports, like us, has done lots of upgrades this winter from a new front clip to an engine rebuild and tons of support from Velocity Race Cars, so their program is better all round too which will show whether it is Paul in his car or me.”
One of the nights he is behind the wheel of both the Late Model and Super Stock – July 24, 2026 – will be a celebration of sorts at Delaware, as it will mark his 100th start behind the wheel of a racecar.
“It is a dream come true. The kid version of me wouldn’t believe what I get to do and I never take that for granted. My son is showing lots of interest and is excited to come watch this summer and I just can’t wait to keep going,” he expressed. “I am still incredibly excited about racing and I am even more passionate about it now than I was when I started. Growing this team to what it is, having the support we do and being able to compete at this level literally is a dream come true and I am so thankful. I can’t thank every family member, crew member, partner, friend and so on enough for any part they have had in this journey.”
Through the years, there have been several memories made, but one that still stands to this day for Dyson is placing 2nd in a field of nearly 40 cars in his third ever career start in a Super Stock at Jukasa Motor Speedway as part of Canadian Nationals weekend.
“Another top memory of course would have to be making my first start in the NASCAR Canada Series,” he added. “Even though our great run came to an end early, it was another dream come true moment that I never thought was possible. We have had some massive wins over the years that are of course memorable and big moments, but those two are at the top.”
