PETERBOROUGH, Ontario — The great Ontario Legend Series rookie campaign for Jake Spencer-Walt concluded at the 32nd annual Autumn Colours Classic on a high with a top-five finish.
Spencer-Walt showed speed through the qualifying heats, placing fourth in the first eight-lap heat on Saturday evening, followed by a third on Sunday afternoon.
A strong performance gave him the pole for the main event, which he took advantage of the track position in pacing the first eight laps on the feature. The experience caught up with him as he dropped back a couple spots in the laps that followed, but he continued to hold his own and speed. Although he dropped back to fifth by Lap 18, he was able to maintain with the leaders through the second half of the feature and survived a couple restarts that followed.
Ultimately, the strong performance at the event resulted in a fifth-place finish to cap off a great rookie season, being awarded the JF Enterprises Rookie of the Race Award. He also completed the season with a third-place finish in the year-end standings.
