Dale Reinhart Victorious in Modified Feature; Steve Trendell Crowned Champion

LONDON, Ontario — Dale Reinhart may have won the Overkill Enterprises OSCAAR Modified feature event at Delaware Speedway, but Steve Trendell won the war in taking home the 2025 series championship.

Reinhart did everything he had to do – maximized his points throughout the day by winning his qualifying heat to start him third for the feature, and found his way to the lead on Lap 5. He put together the dominating performance in leading the remaining 25 laps, including a series of restarts late in the event, to secure the victory.

It seemed as though it was going to be enough as Steve Trendell was struggling, battling mechanical gremlins in first practice and only placed fourth in his qualifying heat to drop the points gap to just five between the pair. When the green flag dropped, he found himself in fifth and unable to gain ground on those ahead of him. However, a late-race caution changed the tide into his favor.

Trendell was aggressive and made the moves he had to, getting by Jason Keen on the final attempt to put himself into the runner-up spot with a couple laps remaining. He then held off a late-race charge by Bryan Batty to cross the finish line second, and secure the championship by a single point.

Batty’s return to the series was met with a solid performance in third, while Steve McCaw rebounded from a late-race spin for fourth. Keen led laps early, and ran second most of the event, fading back in the outside groove to fifth on the final restart.

Chris Milwain was sixth ahead of Dave Mathers, Wally Wilson, and Andrew Massey.

Ryan Dick ran inside the top-five until a spin and mechanical failure took him out of contention with four laps remaining.

Heat victories went to Reinhart and Batty.

The next race for the Overkill Enterprises OSCAAR Modifieds will be at Flamboro Speedway on Saturday, October 4 with Frostoberfest.
