INNISFIL, Ontario — Taking over the lead in the opening laps, Doug Butler dominated the Mini Stock feature at Sunset Speedway on Saturday night.
Butler showed speed in qualifying, carrying that over into the main event where he made quick work of the traffic ahead of him to take the lead, followed by the pacing the rest of the way en route to the victory.
Jacob Sutcliffe drove his way to a runner-up finish to clinch the championship after starting tail of the field after sustaining rear-end damage to his mustang following a spin during the qualifying heat, and backing the car into the front stretch wall. Jack Bird had gotten sideways after getting loose off turn four, saving the car, but barely clipped Sutcliffe in the process.
Wyatt Sutcliffe was third ahead of Blaise Shaw and Kyle D’Antimo.
Coleridge Phinnemore rebounded for sixth following a spin with nine laps to go courtesy of contact from Ryder White. White was seventh, ahead of Chris Cunnington who rebounded after being spun by Cameron McGlashan on Lap 18. Curtis Burnett and Bob Phinnemore completed the top-10.
Blaise Shaw and Wyatt Sutcliffe won the qualifying heats.
