Jake Sheridan Holds off Steckly in Stewart’s and Kubota 100 at Sunset Speedway

INNISFIL, Ontario —- It came down to a battle in the last 15 laps, but ultimately Jake Sheridan came out victorious in the APC Auto Parts United Late Model Series’ Stewart’s and Kubota 150 at Sunset Speedway.

Sheridan proved he was fast in time trials by setting the quickest time with a lap of 14.526 seconds. He was patient throughout the long event, though, putting himself in third at the halfway mark. He moved up to second with 65 laps to go, using a restart to put himself out front.

Steckly, meanwhile, had a harder road to the front with having to start tail of the field after having Jordan Howse qualify the car due to being at Canadian Motorsports Park for the NASCAR Canada Series practice and time trials. Steckly made his way forward quickly, running sixth at the halfway mark. He continued to make moves, breaking into the top-five shortly after the break.

He would put himself in the runner-up spot as the laps began to tick down, and set his sights on Sheridan for the top spot. Once he caught him, he would use a couple bumps to try and get by for the lead, taking over the top spot with a couple laps to go.

Steckly, though, would get caught in lap traffic on the final lap, opening the door for Sheridan. Sheridan made the move underneath, taking the lead back and capturing the checkered flag for the victory.

Josh Stade ran up front throughout the event for a third-place finish ahead of Shae Gemmell, who led multiple laps in the middle portion of the event. Ray Morneau was fifth in front of Cole Quinton, Shawn Chenoweth, Gord Shepherd, Jo Lawrence, and Dale Shaw.

Connor Pritiko was 11th, followed by Junior Farrelly, Cory McAllister, Taylor Holdaway, Cory Luciano, Erik Dalla Riva, Kendra Adams, Jacob Mercer, Dwayne Baker and Treyten Lapcevich.
