Dan Archibald Goes Flag-to-Flag in Hot Rod Feature at Sunset Speedway

INNISFIL, Ontario —Starting on the pole, Dan Archibald led all 30 laps en route to winning the Hot Rod feature at Sunset Speedway on Saturday, August 23.

Archibald found himself on the pole after winning his qualifying heat, even after having to rebound with a drive through the field after an incident. He took advantage of the track position in the feature, leading all 30 laps to victory.

Tyler Hawn worked his way through after starting in the back half of the field, finding his way to Archibald’s bumper. However, he was unable to make a pass work despite a couple different attempts in the final five laps. Mark Gordon’s first Sunset appearance warranted a third-place finish ahead of Tom Walters and Luke Gignac.

Jim Blackwell rebounded for sixth after being involved in a Lap 1 incident ahead of Jay Cutting, Josh Berry, Matt Spry and Ben McPherson. McPherson did not partake in the feature, instead having Paul Senior run his number as a result of a blown motor. Senior did not have much better luck, suffering race-ending nose damage on the opening lap when Blackwell stacked up the field, resulting in Senior getting into Walters.

Jason King rounded out the field after going for a spin on Lap 1 and suffering damage following contact with Walters.
