SAUBLE / PETERBOROUGH, Ontario — The Legend learning curve continues for Jake Spencer-Walt, as evident by a pair of top-10 finishes over the past couple weeks.
The month did not start off accordingly, with tough competition and a bit of contact leading to Spencer-Walt kicking it off with a 14th-place finish on Saturday, August 2nd at Sauble Speedway.
He turned it around a day later, placing third in his qualifier. His father Rick Spencer-Walt decided to join the competition, driving the team’s secondary car to a fourth-place finish in a seperate heat.
The main event brought forth the father-son’s duo first chance to race against each other, with Jake Spencer-Walt battling just inside the top-10 all feature long, crossing the finish line with a 10th-place finish. Rick, meanwhile, saw his night end on Lap 21 resulting in being credited with a 24th-place finish. He was running 15th when he ran into issues on-track.
The team was ready to regroup, heading to Peterborough Speedway where they’d experienced success earlier this summer. Jake Spencer-Walt led every lap of the first qualifier, before placing fourth in the second heat.
Starting up front for the feature, he battled amongst the best of the division inside the top-10 throughout the event, trying a couple different lines on the restarts, crossing the finish line with an eighth-place finish.
The eighth-place finish follows his great start to the season which has featured five top-10’s in six Ontario Legend Series races, as well as a pair of top-five’s in action at Sauble Speedway.
