Ryder White Perfects Fill-In Duties at Sunset Speedway

INNISFIL, Ontario — Knowing he was going to miss this past Saturday night at Sunset Speedway, Josh Davenport called upon Ryder White to fill-in for him in the No. 30 Jr Late Model. The decision paid off, as White took the car to victory lane.

Davenport is trying to pull off the unique feat of winning a pair of Jr Late Model Championships across the province at both Sauble Speedway and Sunset Speedway. However, with some events overlapping, it has resulted in having to have a substitute driver.

White, who now regularly races in the Mini Stock division, knows his way around a Jr Late Model as evident in being a past multi-time champion and feature winner. He showed he had not lost his touch, as evident by dominating both his qualifying heat and the feature on Saturday night.

Ronnie Mason turned his qualifier win into a runner-up in the feature, with Rylan Kamrath completing the top-three after a couple three-wide moves in the early restarts. Landon Struyk and Morgan Moore rounded out the top-five.

The event featured one quick caution on Lap 2, with Troy Purvis getting loose off the corner and going for a quick spin. He was able to get it turned the right way and continue.
