INNISFIL, Ontario — In a battle that went down to the final laps, Doug Butler came out on top ahead of a couple division heavyweights en route to winning the Mini Stock feature at Sunset Speedway on Sunday, August 3.
Butler did not have it easy, having to work his way through traffic and find his way around some of the fastest cars in the province. However, following a late-race battle back and forth with Jacob Sutcliffe, he was able to score the checkered flag. It marked his third win in three days after winning at Delaware Speedway on August 1, and Peterborough Speedway on August 2.
Sutcliffe’s solid season continued with a runner-up in front of Will Gibbons, Ryder White, and Ryan Babin.
Blaise Shaw crossed the finish line in sixth ahead of Curtis Burnett, Kent Missions, Chris Allard, and Alex Stewart.
The race saw a scary incident off of the green flag, as Rob Crick got up on top of the back of Dan Pettit, before rolling over eight times down the backstretch. Thankfully, nobody was injured in the incident. The event was also slowed by a second caution when Curtis Burnett and Matt Young made contact down the frontstretch, resulting in heavy contact for Young with the inside wall.
