INNISFIL, Ontario — Running up front throughout the night, Jake Spencer-Walt scored his first career Ontario Legend Car Series podium finish at Sunset Speedway.
Spencer-Walt started off the night by laying down a lap of 15.968 seconds, setting him up to start third in the first heat. He battled up front against two of the series veterans, ultimately crossing the finish line in third.
Starting seventh in the 35-lap feature main event, Spencer-Walt managed to sneak around some of the early incidents that happened on-track, allowing him to break into the top-five with 10 laps on the board. He made a couple more passes, moving up to third at the halfway mark.
He tried to mount a charge in the second half of the event on the pair of leaders, coming up short in his bid, crossing the finish line in third. The third-place finish follows his great start to the season which has featured four top-10’s in five Ontario Legend Series races, as well as a pair of top-five’s in action at Sauble Speedway.
Following the event at Sunset Speedway, he was awarded the JF Enterprises Rookie of the Race Award.
