Connor James, Doug Butler, and Daniel Hawn Prove Dominate at Sunset Speedway

INNISFIL, Ontario — Saturday night’s action at Sunset Speedway can be summed up by one word – dominant, as a trio of the winners did so in that fashion.

Connor James dominated the Ontario Sportsman Series event to mark his second consecutive win after picking up the checkered flag at Full Throttle Motor Speedway. It marks his second win in a row with the series at Sunset, as he won the finale last September as well. Brendan Patrick and Brad Robinson completed the podium ahead of Shawn McGlynn and Chad McGlynn.

Todd Shepherd was sixth in front of Kevin Gallant, Nathaniel Greenway, Kevin Trevelin, and Paul Bogensberger Jr. Kyle Istead and Amber Balcaen completed the field.

Doug Butler proved he was still fast in his first start of the 2025 campaign, winning the Allan Lankin Cup in dominating fashion by sweeping all three features as part of the event. It marks his second victory in the marquee event as he picked up the trophy in 2023. Jacob Sutcliffe and Ryder White joined him on the podium for all three features, battling back and forth for second and third each event.

The event was relatively clean except for a motor blowing up for Charlie Smith, leaving a trail of oil and smoke with nowhere to go for a couple drivers, including Madisson Tienkamp who sustained heavy front end damage to her mustang.

Daniel Hawn dominated the T.Q. Can-Am Midget feature, picking up the win almost a whole second ahead of fellow HMCW driver Darren McLennan. Jeff Blackburn completed the podium ahead of James Stanley and Jaden Riddell. Roberto Pollilo was sixth in front of Sherri Hogan, Paul Jorgensen, the 42x, and the 96.

Parker Traves proved he was fast once again, picking up his third Sunset Speedway victory of the second with the Ontario Legend Car Series after sweeping the features earlier this season. Joe Adams and Mitch Wright joined him on the podium with Gibson Baker and Wes Cuthbertson completing the top-five. Nick Portt was sixth in front of Jake Spencer-Walt, Dawson Drimmie, Keaton Pipe, and Caleb Drimmie.

Keegan Moat proved he was fast once again with the Bandoleros, sweeping the pair of features to make it three wins in four Sunset Speedway races. Ava Boundy and Landon Sellers joined him on the podium for the first event, with Sellers and Lyla Sikma doing so for the second.
